Who We Are
At Temple Chayai Shalom, our Families with Young Children group creates warm and joyful opportunities for families to connect with Judaism and with one another. Through music, storytelling, crafts, and engaging programs like Tot Shabbat, visiting magicians, the ZooMobile, WhaleMobile, and more, children and parents alike can experience the joy of Jewish life in meaningful and playful ways.
We welcome everyone—members and non-members, interfaith families, partnered, adopting, or single parents, LGBTQ+ parents, and Jews of every background. At TCS, there is truly something for everyone—come see, sing, and celebrate with us!

What We Do
Build Community
The Families with Young Children group at Temple Chayai Shalom helps build community by creating welcoming spaces where families can learn, celebrate, and grow together. Through Tot Shabbat, seasonal programs, music, crafts, and shared holiday experiences, parents and children connect not only to Jewish traditions but also to one another. These gatherings foster friendships, provide support for families in similar stages of life, and strengthen bonds within the broader TCS community, ensuring that every family feels a sense of belonging.

Tot Shabbat
Tot Shabbat at Temple Chayai Shalom is a joyful, family-friendly service designed especially for our youngest children and their families. Through songs, crafts, stories, and simple prayers, little ones can begin to experience the beauty of Shabbat in a way that is fun, engaging, and accessible. Each Tot Shabbat includes dinner, music and singing, time to celebrate together as a community, and a special craft or activity to take home. It’s a wonderful way to introduce children to Jewish traditions while building lasting friendships with other families.
Events & Adventures
Temple Chayai Shalom’s Families with Young Children hosts three special events and adventures each year—one in the fall, one near Chanukah, and one in the spring. Open to the entire community, these events combine engaging entertainment such as magicians, the ZooMobile, WhaleMobile, or Mad Scientist, with joyful music, singing, and a creative craft. Each gathering offers families a chance to celebrate, connect, and share meaningful experiences that bring Jewish life to children in a fun and welcoming way.

Tot Shabbat - Friday September 19 at 5:45pm
Join us for a joyful Tot Shabbat at Temple Chayai Shalom! This special service is designed for young children and their families, featuring music, stories, simple prayers, and a fun craft to take home. It’s a warm and welcoming way to celebrate Shabbat together while meeting other families in our community. Come share dinner and celebrate Shabbat with us.
Zoo Mobile - Sunday, October 12 at 9:45am
Please join us as we celebrate the joyous Festival of Sukkot, marking the fall harvest as we welcome the Zoomobile to Temple Chayai Shalom. Five or six different animals will visit us in an engaging and educational program geared to families with young children. Imagine yourself at the time of the world’s creation or as Noah and the ark as he helped the animals to board!
