Formal Hebrew education begins in second grade. Students will attend Hebrew School one afternoon during the week as well as Sunday mornings. In 2nd and 3rd grades, the students begin to decode Hebrew words and are introduced to basic prayers from both Friday evening and Saturday morning services. In the upper grades, students work to develop Hebrew reading fluency and become more comfortable in leading and participating in prayer. In addition, some conversational Hebrew is introduced as well as in depth conversations about Jewish ethics, the state of Israel, and the Torah.
